The day begins early with a transfer to the airport for the onward journey to

Simikot. Pilgrims board a small aircraft for a memorable mountain flight,

offering aerial views of deep valleys, winding rivers, and progressively rising Himalayan terrain. As the aircraft approaches Simikot, the dramatic shift from lowland geography to high-altitude mountain regions becomes clearly visible.

Simikot is a remote Himalayan town. Upon arrival, the day is intentionally kept light to allow the body to begin adjusting to the increased altitude. Pilgrims may take short walks around the local area, observe village life, or rest at the accommodation as part of the acclimatization process. Proper rest and hydration are encouraged throughout the day.

After breakfast, pilgrims proceed for an exciting helicopter flight to Hilsa, a small settlement located at the Nepal–Tibet border. This short yet memorable flight offers striking aerial views of deep gorges, snow-lined ridges, and rugged Himalayan terrain. Upon landing at Hilsa, all group members assemble before completing border formalities on foot and officially entering Tibetan territory.

Once across the border, pilgrims are welcomed by the Tibetan and Nepali ground team. The journey then continues by road toward Purang, also known as Taklakot. This drive marks the first experience of the Tibetan plateau, with vast open landscapes, high-altitude winds, and a distinct cultural environment. Upon arrival, pilgrims check into the hotel and rest to aid acclimatization.

Today’s journey leads pilgrims to the sacred Lake Mansarovar, covering approximately 78 kilometers through open highland terrain.

We first complete the circumambulation of the holy lake by bus. This controlled movement helps preserve the fragile environment while allowing pilgrims to experience the spiritual presence of the lake. The route also passes by Rakshas Tal (Demon Lake), a site associated with ancient legends, where Ravana is believed to have performed penance to Lord Shiva.

The remainder of the day is spent near the lake, allowing time for quiet reflection, prayer, and adjustment to the high altitude. Accommodation is arranged in simple dormitory-style housing, reflecting the remote nature of the location and the traditional pilgrimage experience.

Highlight: Holy lake darshan at early morning / dawn to experience spiritual breakthrough (3.30 am to 5 am).

In the afternoon, the journey proceeds toward Darchen, the base town for the Mount Kailash Parikrama. The gradual drive allows pilgrims to rest while transitioning toward the next phase of the yatra.

After breakfast, pilgrims begin the most sacred segment of the journey — the Mount Kailash Parikrama. A short drive brings the group to Yama Dwar (also known as Tarboche), the traditional starting point of the trek. Horses and porters, if arranged in advance, are assigned here.

From Yama Dwar, pilgrims commence the trek toward Diraphuk, walking through dramatic landscapes marked by prayer flags, rocky trails, and distant views of Mount Kailash. Pilgrims who choose not to undertake the parikrama remain in Darchen under separate arrangements.

Pilgrims staying back in Darchen may be shifted to an alternate hotel at no extra cost or may continue at same hotel depending upon the situation at that time.

This is the most demanding and spiritually significant day of the parikrama. Pilgrims ascend gradually toward the Dolma-La Pass, the highest point of the trek. At the summit, devotees offer prayers and pause briefly to absorb the powerful spiritual atmosphere. From the pass, the trail descends past the sacred Lake Gauri Kunda before continuing toward Zuthulphuk.

The descent, while less steep, still requires careful footing due to terrain and altitude. Arrival at Zuthulphuk marks the completion of the most challenging phase of the journey.

Distance Approximately 3-hour trek followed by road and air transfers

After breakfast, pilgrims undertake a short trek to Chongdo, the concluding point of the Mount Kailash Parikrama. Vehicles await here to transport the group back to Darchen, where they reunite with pilgrims who did not participate in the trek.

Following lunch at Darchen, the journey continues by road to Taklakot or Hilsa. Depending on weather and operational conditions, pilgrims then board a flight back to Simikot, marking the exit from the Tibetan region.

After breakfast, pilgrims depart from their overnight halt location. The group flies from Simikot to Nepalgunj and then continues by road toward Lucknow. Any expenses of a personal nature, including but not limited to laundry services, telephone calls, internet usage, shopping, or purchase of souvenirs, are not covered.
Tips and Gratuities:
Gratuities for guides, drivers, porters, hotel staff, or any service personnel are not included and are payable at the pilgrim’s discretion.
Travel Insurance:
Any travel or medical insurance beyond the mandatory or basic coverage is not part of the package and must be arranged independently.
Alcoholic Beverages:
Alcoholic drinks or any food and beverages consumed outside the meals specified in the itinerary are excluded.
Optional Activities:

Emergency Evacuation:

Horse and Porter: Horse and porter services are not included in the package and must be arranged and paid for at the location of the parikrama.

- Porter: 2800–3000 Chinese Yuan
Payment must be made only in Chinese Yuan; Indian currency is not accepted. Availability is subject to local conditions and the volume of pilgrims at the time of travel. Once hired, horses and porters must be engaged for the entire duration of the Mount Kailash Parikrama, and payments made are non-refundable. While every effort will be made to assist in arranging these services, their availability cannot be guaranteed.

Passport Copy

A clear scanned copy of the passport must be provided at the time of booking. The passport number and personal details should be clearly legible to avoid processing delays.

Photograph

Pilgrims are required to submit one digital photograph and two (2) physical photographs sized 33 × 45 mm. All photographs must be professionally taken in a studio, featuring a plain white background, dark-colored clothing, and no spectacles. These photographs must be sent to the Delhi office. Informal or non-compliant photographs will not be accepted.

Permit

The travel permit application for this journey must be initiated at least 40 days prior to the scheduled departure date to ensure timely processing.

Original Passport

The original passport must be submitted to the Delhi office 15 days before departure for visa and permit formalities. Passports must carry a minimum validity of six (6) months from the date of departure to be eligible for travel. Completed passports will be returned to pilgrims in Nepal. Passports will not be couriered or dispatched directly to individual clients.

Voter ID Card

Entry into Nepal for this pilgrimage must be completed using a valid Voter ID card as per current travel regulations.

Fees

In cases where a permit has been applied for and the booking is later canceled, a non-refundable charge of USD 175 will be applicable toward permit processing expenses.

Travel between Lucknow and Nepalgunj (both onward and return) will be arranged on a shared basis. Pilgrims are required to report at the designated pickup location at the scheduled time to avoid delays or disruptions to group movement.
The pilgrimage program officially commences with dinner on Day 1 and concludes with breakfast on Day 9, as outlined in the itinerary. No meals outside this schedule are included unless specifically mentioned.
All flights operating on the Nepalgunj–Simikot–Hilsa sector are subject to aircraft weight limitations due to terrain and safety regulations. Allocation of passengers is managed strictly by aviation authorities, and requests for priority boarding or early flight placement will not be accepted.
Accommodation throughout the journey is provided on a twin or triple sharing basis. In high-altitude and remote locations, lodging may be arranged in basic dormitory-style rooms accommodating 5–6 pilgrims. Single occupancy rooms are not available at Mansarovar, Dhiraphuk, or Zuthulphuk due to infrastructure limitations.
Hot water facilities are generally unavailable in remote regions including Simikot, Hilsa, Lake Mansarovar, Dhiraphuk, and Zuthulphuk. Pilgrims should be prepared for basic amenities in these locations.
Toilet facilities during the Mount Kailash Parikrama consist primarily of basic outdoor Indian-style toilets. Hotels in towns and lower-altitude areas are equipped with standard western-style commodes.
On the first night at Darchen, accommodation is arranged at Hotel Formont. Pilgrims who choose not to participate in the parikrama will be transferred to an alternate hotel at no additional cost. However, those wishing to continue staying at the same hotel will be required to pay an additional charge of 200 Yuan per person per night.
A visit to Asthapad (South Face of Mount Kailash) is not included in this package. Pilgrims wishing to undertake this excursion must pay an additional fee of USD 100, subject to permission and feasibility.
Any emergency evacuation, rescue operations, or medical assistance required during the journey are not included and must be paid directly by the pilgrim.
Pilgrims who choose to discontinue the parikrama midway and return from Dhiraphuk or Zuthulphuk will be required to pay 200 Yuan per night for accommodation in Darchen and bear the separate cost of jeep transportation.

Booking a Trip
To confirm participation, travelers must hold a valid passport with a minimum validity of six (6) months from the date of travel. A total of six passport-sized photographs (either scanned or physical copies) are also required for documentation and permit processing. At the time of booking, an advance payment of 25% of the total tour cost must be made. The remaining balance must be settled upon arrival or as instructed by the tour operator in Nepal, and before the commencement of the journey. Clients are advised to finalize their travel plans after reviewing personal schedules, financial considerations, and medical readiness.

Prices
Tour prices may be revised or adjusted due to factors beyond control, including but not limited to foreign exchange fluctuations, weather-related disruptions, flight schedule changes, or internal political developments. Any such changes will be communicated transparently. There are no hidden charges, and all known costs are outlined clearly in the itinerary and inclusions.

Cancellation & Refund PolicyIn the event of cancellation, the following refund structure will apply:

90% refund if cancellation is made 45 days or more prior to the departure date.
50% refund if cancellation is made between 25 to 44 days before departure.
30% refund if cancellation is made between 15 to 24 days before departure.
No refund will be applicable if cancellation is made within 7 days of departure.

Refunds, where applicable, will be processed after deducting administrative and processing charges.

Passports & Visas
All travelers must carry a passport that remains valid for at least six months beyond the travel period. Nepal visas can be obtained either through Nepalese embassies/consulates or upon arrival at the airport, depending on nationality. For the Mount Kailash Yatra, travel into Tibet is conducted under a Chinese Group Tourist Visa, and entry is arranged collectively. Group formation and visa issuance are subject to final group size and applicable regulations.

Changes or Delays in the Program
The itinerary may be impacted by unforeseen circumstances such as adverse weather conditions, political disturbances, road blockages, health emergencies, or natural calamities. In such situations, we will make every reasonable effort to provide alternative arrangements or revised plans, depending on feasibility and safety considerations.

Postponement and Transfer of Booking
Requests to postpone or modify travel dates or itinerary must be submitted at least 30 days prior to departure. Any additional expenses arising from such changes, including revised permits, accommodations, or transportation, will be borne by the client. While we will attempt to offer similar or suitable alternatives, confirmation depends on availability and regulatory approvals.

Health & Fitness
Participants are strongly advised to consult a qualified medical professional before confirming their booking to ensure they are fit for high-altitude travel. Any existing medical conditions, ongoing treatments, or health concerns must be disclosed to us in advance so that appropriate guidance can be provided.

Travel Insurance
Holding valid travel insurance is compulsory for this journey. The policy must include coverage for medical emergencies, accidents, emergency evacuation, rescue operations, and other unforeseen situations that may arise during high-altitude travel.

Complaints
If any issue or concern arises during the tour, it should be reported immediately to the tour leader or accompanying guide for prompt attention. Alternatively, concerns may be communicated to our office after the completion of the journey. All complaints will be reviewed and addressed in a timely and appropriate manner.

Privacy
Personal information collected from clients is used solely for official processing, including permits, visas, and travel coordination. We are committed to protecting privacy and will not disclose, publish, or share personal data with third parties without the client’s consent.

Visas and Permits
Travelers must carry a passport with a minimum validity of six (6) months from the date of entry into Tibet. The Tibet travel visa will be arranged through the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu. For this purpose, a clear scanned copy of the passport must be submitted at least 35 days prior to departure to allow sufficient processing time.

Meals
Throughout the Mount Kailash journey, freshly prepared vegetarian meals will be provided. Meals are cooked by experienced Indian and continental chefs, keeping hygiene, nutrition, and suitability for high-altitude conditions in mind.

Temperature and Weather
The region generally experiences a dry and windy climate between October and May. Snowfall may occur in higher mountainous areas. Despite the elevation, daytime conditions often include strong sunlight, while temperatures drop sharply after sunset. Daytime temperatures may reach around 22°C, whereas nighttime temperatures can fall between 0°C and -10°C.

Trip Leaders
The journey is led by professionally trained trip leaders who are fluent in English and Hindi. Each leader has extensive experience in high-altitude regions and a thorough understanding of the route. Their primary focus is on coordination, safety, and participant well-being throughout the pilgrimage.

Altitude Sickness
Certain sections of the journey exceed 2,500 meters (9,200 feet), where altitude-related discomfort may occur. To minimize risks, participants are advised to follow these guidelines:

● Ensure adequate rest before and during the journey
● Walk at a slow pace and allow time for acclimatization
● Stay well hydrated and avoid alcoholMedications such as Diamox may be beneficial (subject to medical advice). Oxygen support and basic medicines are carried by the team; however, pilgrims should also carry their personal medications and a basic first-aid kit.

Currency
In Tibet, only US Dollars and Euros can be exchanged into Chinese Yuan. Currency exchange facilities are available in both Nepal and Tibet, though exchange rates may vary on a daily basis.

Photography
Personal cameras are generally permitted during the journey; however, photography is strictly prohibited at security checkpoints and sensitive locations, and instructions from authorities must be followed at all times.

Insurance
Clients are strongly encouraged to obtain comprehensive insurance coverage for illness, accidents, trip interruptions, cancellations, and emergencies. Such insurance facilities are not available locally in Nepal, making prior arrangement essential.

Communication
Mobile network coverage is generally available across Tibet, though signal strength may vary by location. Wi-Fi access is available at select hotels. Alternatively, pilgrims may purchase a Chinese SIM card, typically costing around 200 Yuan, for local connectivity.
